Interviewing, Hiring and Conducting a Winning Interview

How do you hire the best person for your position opening?

After greater than 40 years of experience both in corporate and as an entrepreneur I learned how to hire well. It took some great hires and some bad hires to find the way. I interviewed hundreds of candidates for my many roles and for clients. Making hires that fit your culture, mix well with their peers, or have the ability to lead with strength requires in-depth preparation. And this includes understanding all the touch points of the position in your company. Who and what is affected? Is this a profit center role? What qualities are needed?

I would love an opportunity to help you with your hiring, interviewing and onboarding processes and assist your hiring managers and hiring staff.

What it takes to hire well

I wrote an ebook as a guide to designing, preparing and conducting an interview. It takes you through the process of setting yourself, your candidates and your company up for success to hire the right person the first time.

Highlights from the book:

Right from the beginning it is all about you. You set up the environment for success during the interview process. You want to magnetize people to your company with social proof about why you are a great company. How you value and treat your people will speak well.

Today’s employee wants to be valued, have an opportunity to grow, learn and contribute from their strengths.

Because hybrid positions, remote, and work from home will be the norm, there are hints throughout and sections dedicated to conducting interviews on Zoom, Skype or any type of digital platform to guide you.

Top Qualities of a Great Interviewer

One of the first qualities needed is confidence. Executve presence, active listening and great questioning skills and communication round out the top.

Next step is prepare, prepare, prepare!

“One important key to succes is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.”

Arthur Ashe

Onboarding

Onboarding is crucial to getting everyone off to the right start. In my coaching with new hiring managers we discuss how to design a winning onboarding process that helps welcome your new hire – whether executive or line position. This is key in confirming their choice to join your company. This content is not covered in the hiring and the design – it is covered in coaching and training.

I love to see great people hired…and love helping new managers succeed!
